Albany Theatre garden

monday 16th february – sunday 22nd february

10:00 – 2000 (drop in, indoor/outdoor activity)

SHRINKING SPACE EXAMINES HUMANITY’S PLACE IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM BY INVITING ARTISTS, SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS TO PARTICIPATE IN A FICTIONAL SPACE PROGRAMME.

Let Mind’s Eye transport you from Deptford South East London, to the furthest flung corners of our solar system.

As you enter, you’ll receive headphones and a pre-tuned iPod radio. Wander around the Albany Theatre Garden and find yourself pulled into the orbit of different areas representing Earth, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Venus, the Sun, Saturn, Rosetta mission and Voyager mission. Once you walk into the invisible “bubble” of a celestial body or mission, your headphones will tune into fascinating interviews and discussions with scientists, space explorers and celestial adventurers whose knowledge of the planet or star they are describing often represents a lifetime’s work.

Mind’s Eye has been made possible by the support of Brighton Digital Festival, Arts Council England, European Space Agency, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and Little Atoms.

“The effect is bewitching, like floating through space itself, with only the occasional transmission back to earth for company.” Becky Hogge
